The
receptionist, although having seen me only once before, greeted me with “Tran? We’ll
be with you shortly.” The dental assistant came and called out a name I didn’t recognize;
the receptionist corrected her: “Her name is Tran.” The dentist assured me that
I could leave my temporary crown off since it popped out twice. She proceeded
to numb my gum, but on the wrong quadrant! No worry. She found my X-ray and would
work on the correct tooth now. Then the assistant pointed out something to the
dentist. My appointment was for next Monday. I was a wrong patient!
Welcome to The Rocking Chair Corner. It serves as a kind of diary for me, an incomplete depository of pieces of my life, my thoughts, my joys, my sorrows. Sometimes I include pictures so that I don’t have to search for words. Once in a great while, I attempt to put into English feelings others expressed in their non-English writings, or into my language feelings others expressed in English. Join me in a circle of rocking chairs. Kick off your shoes, sip your wine or tea, relax, and enjoy.

Collage #48
You wouldn’t have guessed
What a time we had
Going on our annual Disney trek
Working the magic tricks
Of maximizing our fun
By following the most efficient plan
Of our most competent Mama
Even under the rain
Especially under the rain
Until it made us abandon
Our Typhoon Lagoon beloved park
But that’s how memorable moments are made
We will tuck away the week
Spent with Bà and Vivi
In a corner of our heart
Along with other summer treasures
And the tangibles
Become entangled in the web of life
What a time we had
Going on our annual Disney trek
Working the magic tricks
Of maximizing our fun
By following the most efficient plan
Of our most competent Mama
Even under the rain
Especially under the rain
Until it made us abandon
Our Typhoon Lagoon beloved park
But that’s how memorable moments are made

Along with other summer treasures
And the tangibles
Become entangled in the web of life
