Collage# 62

In October the orange pumpkins beckoned
And we too fell in love with their cousins of green and white
They came in various shapes and sizes
We loved them all as food and art combined
For Halloween Mama carved the biggest
Putting a Phantom of Opera mask on its side
Adding a touch of light to show it off at night
Then dressing up to be what we were not
We lost ourselves in the magic of pretense
Mama baked the best pumpkin pies yet
Better than all the candies we stowed in our bags
But those were not for the October birthdays
For birthdays we had Opera cake and apple tart
Fitting for kings of queens of old
We ate all the Blue Bell ice cream flavors we could
It sure is a special once-a-year celebration we enjoyed
We are having the time of our lives
When everything happens in the most delightful way
