Behind the smiley face
Lies a deep sadness
Only known to my lonely soul
Amid the laughter
And the surrounding happy sounds
I hold my feelings inside
My mind plays tricks
I am not sure
If what I feel is what should be

Not all things are familiar
I am disoriented
Country borders are a blur
Time line is not a straight line
It circles around
Connecting the past and the present
In a random pattern
That changes each day I wake up
What you tell me are mine
Seem to belong to someone else
I am a little scared
Of what lies ahead
Although I am comforted
With the love and care you share
I yearn for something different
Just to feel I have options
To control my destiny
