You look so peaceful in your sleep
Must have angels at your feet
I hope sweet dreams never cease
Feelings of calmness never leave
Each passing day I think of you
You’re never alone that much is true
I wish I were nearer to you
My heart rejoices whenever I get to see you
I miss all the moments together we had
Whenever I do not get to see you
Though we live a few thousand miles apart
My love for you will not fade as time marches
I will remember your words and your thoughts
I will cherish your smiles and your laughs
I will keep your love and your touch
In my heart forever – In my world you stay
Welcome to The Rocking Chair Corner. It serves as a kind of diary for me, an incomplete depository of pieces of my life, my thoughts, my joys, my sorrows. Sometimes I include pictures so that I don’t have to search for words. Once in a great while, I attempt to put into English feelings others expressed in their non-English writings, or into my language feelings others expressed in English. Join me in a circle of rocking chairs. Kick off your shoes, sip your wine or tea, relax, and enjoy.

Summertime
I said I’ll see you later
She said Stay a while longer
So we sat
On the bench outside the Fellowship House
She recited poems
I talked of past and future events
And answered the same questions
Countless times
It was fine
It was a nice summer day
We enjoyed the sunshine
Hoping for a vitamin D supply
The breeze blew gentle air
On our faces
I could see
The happiness in her eyes
I said I’ll share our picture
She smiled
She said Stay a while longer
So we sat
On the bench outside the Fellowship House
She recited poems
I talked of past and future events
And answered the same questions
Countless times
It was fine
It was a nice summer day
We enjoyed the sunshine
Hoping for a vitamin D supply
The breeze blew gentle air

The happiness in her eyes
I said I’ll share our picture

Together Again
It’s hard to be magical
When the heat is high
The crowd is large
And the virus protection is not in place
Yet magic happened
Because you were there
We had a swell time
Being together – Together again
When the heat is high
The crowd is large
And the virus protection is not in place
Yet magic happened
Because you were there
We had a swell time
Being together – Together again

A Garden Stroll
On the last morning of spring
Through a stroll in the garden
I smelled the flowers’ fragrance
And saw them glisten
Winged creatures flitting
From one bloom to the next
The deer came to watch
The turtles slowed down
The birds sang their songs
And soft dew lingered
My heart satisfied
My feet skipped along
I’ll bring my sweetheart
With me before long
Through a stroll in the garden
I smelled the flowers’ fragrance
And saw them glisten
Winged creatures flitting
From one bloom to the next
The deer came to watch
The turtles slowed down
The birds sang their songs
And soft dew lingered
My heart satisfied
My feet skipped along
I’ll bring my sweetheart
With me before long

Collage 58
I want to be a dragon
And if I can’t I want a wish dragon
To grant my wishes true
I want to scuba dive
And be a marine biologist
I’ll learn about sea animals
While watching them play
That would be a perfect day
When I’m in a submarine
Being a marine biologist
With my wish dragon by my side
I too want to be a marine biologist
But first I want to learn my S’s and L’s
I want to celebrate Milli’s Day
In addition to Mother’s and Father’s Days
I’ll eat phở all day
Then end with macaron and ice cream
It’d be swell if the ice cream be Blue Bell
I’d pick cherry and coffee and rocky road
I’ll have it with jelly juice
I’ll be in the same submarine
My brother and his wish dragon are in
Together we’ll explore
The world beyond our dreams
And if I can’t I want a wish dragon
To grant my wishes true
I want to scuba dive
And be a marine biologist
I’ll learn about sea animals
While watching them play
That would be a perfect day
When I’m in a submarine

Amid the Laughter
Amid the laughter
We share a sorrow
A miracle I pray for
For the one we love
At the Beach House
In the month of May
We build memories
To comfort us one day
When we look back
To relish the time
Amid the laughter
We share a sorrow
A miracle I pray for
For the one we love
At the Beach House
In the month of May
We build memories
To comfort us one day
When we look back
To relish the time
Amid the laughter
We have each other

Of the Day I Left
I went
Without knowing the final destination
I obeyed
Without question the wisdom
I followed
The footsteps of the boat people
In confusion
And chaos
I began my adulthood
I was thrust into a new place
Where I was welcome
Yet a stranger
I felt lost
Amid the smiles
I clung to
A few familiar faces
The unearned guilt I carried
Brought me physical anguish
I didn’t know how better
To find peace within
I plowed on
The best way I could
Time healed
The scars of fleeing
I calmed down
Embracing my blessings
I carried on
Living through the ages
Like many around me
Some memories have faded
To preserve the soul
We count on written diaries
To know the history
I am thankful
Yet I know the pain remains
Somewhere deep inside
Each of the boat people
Though I appreciate the gains
I mourn the losses
On the anniversary
Of the day I left
Without knowing the final destination
I obeyed
Without question the wisdom
I followed
The footsteps of the boat people
In confusion
And chaos
I began my adulthood
I was thrust into a new place
Where I was welcome
Yet a stranger
I felt lost
Amid the smiles
I clung to
A few familiar faces
The unearned guilt I carried
Brought me physical anguish
